What are investors actually looking for right now? It is the question most founders are asking themselves, and the answers they usually get are the rehearsed ones. So Malahide Partners started asking investors directly.
The result is The Investor Series: short, direct conversations with the family offices, venture funds and private investors in the firm's network, on what they are actually deploying against right now, not the polished version they give on a panel.
Episode 01: Richard Armstrong, TA Ventures
The first episode is with Richard Armstrong, Partner at TA Ventures, an early stage fund. He has been investing for seventeen years, mostly pre-seed to Series A, with the fund writing cheques of typically $100,000 to $2 million and backing 17 unicorns across fintech, e-commerce and social commerce.
His sharpest focus right now is the AI infrastructure and compute build out in Asia, alongside energy, cybersecurity and financial services. What makes him pass on a deal that looks good on paper: the team does not look like the right one to execute, or the market is not really there.
More conversations to come
Further episodes will follow with investors across Europe, the GCC and North America. Each one is published on the Investor Series page, with a short write up of the key takeaways.
